Memorial Day

John Marsh and Jacob Kool are the only two relatives that I know of who died while in the military of the United States. They both died in the Civil War and are buried in the National Cemetery in Little Rock Arkansas. When I visited John's grave I left a Michigan quarter buried in a little vial in front of his gravestone. If you ever go, see if it is still there.

  2. When you said you buried the quarter, it reminded me of my mother-in-law. When the Japanese came to the P.I. and they had to run from their house, she had the foresight to bury their money in a glass jar in the back yard. And when the Japanese left she was able to retrieve their money from the ground. D.

  3. I'd be interested in the background of your name, "Spinner". Nicholas was extremely pleased to complete his state quarter collection a few months ago. It is such an important part of his life, that in his college interview, when the questioner said, "Tell me something completely random about yourself," he said,"I collect state quarters". :) Love, Linda
