Angels

The little angels look up at Mary and Jesus in Raphael's "Sistine" Madonna in Dresden. We encountered several angels on our way. The most dramatic appearance was on a street corner in Hamburg where we stood, map in hand, puzzling over the way to the History Museum. A middle-aged man ran across the street, speaking German, offering help. We only needed to say one word and he switched to English and said he was from Michigan and was living in Germany. We happily chatted and he gave us good directions. Angels also helped us with our luggage: Steven at the Hamburg hotel, fashionable ladies who helped us manage our luggage as we got up and down the steps to the trains and an unseen angel that kept the cane from falling through the steps onto the tracks below. We are thankful for journeying mercies and for angels unaware.

  2. Morgan picked out shower curtains in Mo. with the two little angels motif so she appreciated great art as you do. I didn't realize they were part of another painting. L.S.
