A Fish out of Water

Yesterday Sister took me to have my hair cut professionally then on to the Mall to shop. Now this will not seem worth blogging about to my kind readers who do these activities routinely but this fish was clearly out of her element. I could not believe the price tags on clothes. No wonder Goodwill has opened a third store in Kalamazoo and other resale shops are popping up all over.

The bad news is that after spending $48 on navy blue Capris I noticed that Crops are the newest thing.

The good news is that when I selected clothes in the size I thought that I wore, they were too big.

But the Beauty Shop experience was wonderful. Beside the actual clip job, there was chocolate cake and friendly people and a friendly cat. I'll go back before the icicles hang down again over Marilyn Monroe (see photo). But as far as buying clothes is concerned, I'm more likely to check out Goodwill and the other thrift shops even if they don't have secondhand Crops for a few years.

  1. Atom: Liebe Naomi.

  2. What are "crops"? Aren't they capri's? About a 3/4 length leg? I am clueless on the latest fashion. One thrift shop shopper to another. D

  3. I don't know the difference between crops and capris either! Perhaps one is knee-length, and one is calf-length? I think both lengths are equally "hip and trendy."

I, too, find the mall painful. I was once forced to spend FIVE HOURS in a mall with my cousins, who enjoy shopping. Garage sales are my venue. If I do have to buy anything new, it's from a sale at Target! Susan :-)

  4. Hair shampoo and cut I like. It feels good to get a good scrub...My old cloths are still hanging together by threads--shopping dread is in my genes. Neat Pict of Marilyn...Glad you are having fun..Love R

  5. Crops seem to be the same length as Capris but tapered. My Capris have a cuff and the Crops that I saw did not. I'm in a state of dread that all the women on QM2 will be cuffless and tapered LOL.

  6. Don't worry I heard the "Fashion Police" will not be on board. Angelica

  7. At least you are tall enough that crops or capris don't look like regular slacks on you! :)

    Love,

Sorry I haven't checked your blog in a while--the kids have been hogging the computer in the summer.
