Shopping

A bell ringer with a red kettle is outside the grocery store. Ever since I had the pleasure of being a bell ringer myself in Kalamazoo one frigid winter day many years ago, I cannot pass a red kettle without dropping in a few coins.

This Publix store stocks our favorite Nathan's hot dogs and also Dreft laundry detergent powder which we can no longer get at our Meijer store in Kalamazoo. Publix is the only grocery store on Longboat Key but we also go to Winn-Dixie when we pass one on the mainland because the movie by the same name is one of our favorites. Have you seen it?

  1. Hello, I didn't know you were a bell ringer one time. That's great. It doesn't look like Christmas in Florida, it looks too nice outside. I never saw that movie. We are trying to borrow the movie "Its a wonderful life" from the library as I don't see it listed in our TV guide. So how many more days will you enjoy the beautiful weather in Florida? DEP

  2. Remember Publix. Mom and Dad had one near them in Winter Haven and am pretty sure it was their favorite there too. So who is cooking the Christmas goose - or heron? You didn't mention him.rb

  3. Our pet heron just happens to be at the screen door looking for a shrimp treat. We will be having our Christmas dinner (turkey) prepared by Boston Market and served up in "silver" dishes. Then we'll pack up to leave on Monday.

I made a reservation to come back at about the same time next year. Sister said sitting on a bench looking out at the Gulf is more enjoyable than sitting on the deck of QM2 because of the sunshine and warm temperature.
