This will be our first Christmas in Florida. We have had the whole apartment building to ourselves for the last week or so and most of the cottages are empty. It is so quiet and beautiful that it is a taste of the "peace on earth" for which we all pray.
I thought how, as the day had come, the belfries of all Christendom had rolled along the unbroken song, of peace on earth, good will to men, and in despair I bowed my head; "There is no peace on earth," I said, "For hate is strong and mock the song, of peace on earth, good will to men," till ringing, singing, on its way, the world revolved from night to day, a voice a chime, a chant sublime, of peace on earth, good will to men! ReplyDeleteThe previous comment was from the Christmas Carol, "I heard the Bells on Christmas Day" In other words our faith gives us a hope that their will be everlasting peace and all of us will be reunited some day.
