We are celebrating the Yankee win of the World Series because of Derek Jeter, star short-stop who is a graduate of Kalamazoo Public Schools. He returns frequently to inspire and encourage local children and support their ambitions through a special fund he established for them.
The MVP of the series is Hideki Matsui who earlier in the season lost his position in the outfield because he couldn't run for fly balls because of bad knees. He took the job as designated hitter and tied the record for most RBIs in a series. When he hits a home-run he does not need to hurry around the bases.
It inspires and encourages us that even with bad knees one can be a star.
Congratulations on the Yankee win! Even Rebekah was interested in watching the World Series this year. Love, Linda
