This nationwide organization was written up in TIME magazine last week. It's purpose is to save stuff from going to the landfill and that is what I have been doing anyway for years, so I joined up. There is a Kalamazoo-Portage Freecycle group that I started getting messages from almost immediately. The messages are either, OFFER, WANT, or PRAISE. I replied to a "WANT small color TV" message and a few minutes ago a man came and picked up the TV. He said he had been unemployed for four years and wanted it for his 82 year-old mother. I walked out to his old car with him and there in the front seat was mom, a tiny lady who was very grateful to get the TV.
I feel happier giving things away than selling them. By the looks of the garage I have many happy days ahead.
That was neat that you got to meet the little lady who was getting your TV. What a great idea!

Yes you have the right concept. It is better to give than receive. Can I give you a loaf of rye bread? With or without seeds. L.S.
ReplyDeleteI too like to see my favorite things in the hands of other who will enjoy them. This sounds great. I will look up the org to see what they have in CA. Thanks for the info. Love R
