For 31 years I have received Christmas greetings from M.M., a former student who sprang out of my classroom into Nursing. She has devoted herself to a career in obstetrical nursing. Beside her work she writes of her delight in her nieces and nephews. We have a lot in common.
I have more than 3000 offspring out there taking care of people. Since I have been blessed with good health, I have not experienced their care personally. When our paths chance to cross, they recognize me before I recognize them and greet me with pleasure and sometimes a hug. If I need nursing care I hope one of my offspring will be there. Given my age, it's not likely to be M. M. however.
That's the wonderful thing about being a teacher--your students always remember you!
