Although old age is not for sissies, I would pick my second childhood over the first. There are no anxieties about going to school or getting a job and thanks to the habits learned in my first childhood, no money worries.
When I was eight, I had a wobbly boys bike that fell apart three blocks from home. Now I have four wheels with heated seats and can go anywhere in the world, by land, sea or air. When I was eight, Aunt Laura died and I moved to her bedroom and got to listen to her radio. Radio was better then except for scary war news. We expected bombers over head at any time and had air-raid drills at school.
I still like listening to the radio but I love all the "new" electronics. How many others do you know who blog after 70? Can you name three?
I know Andrea would readily admit you are more tech-savvy than she is.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you will be podcasting in 2010!
I don't know anyone else in my mom's generation who blog, and not all of them even have internet service. My mother-in-law doesn't have the internet, but she lives above a coffeeshop, so the kids can pick up the WIFI for their computers from there. Love, Linda
ReplyDeleteI might know one I'll have to get an age check. I got a used rusty bike for my 8th bDAD that my dad re-painted for me. I jumped a curb with it and the front wheel broke off. Those formative years were good for us. We can survive anything. Yeah for the old gals....My car has heated seats too and I live in CA. Love R
ReplyDeleteSorry about that bDAY not DAD--old fingers need to have eyes proof-read. R
