Costco Converts

The nearest Costco Warehouse is 60 miles away in Grand Rapids near the Gerald R. Ford Airport and we have been perfectly happy getting almost everything from Meijer's Thrifty Acres right across the street in Kalamazoo, but as of today we are official card carrying Costco members.

It was the delectable Kirkland Premium Chunk Chicken Breast (packed in water) that did it. Now we're stocked up with 18 cans.

While we were there, Sister bought the hot new political book, "Game Change" and I wanted to buy 4 Michelin tires (with a $70 rebate) but the nice salesman said the car really didn't need them yet, come back next year.

I didn't see any caskets displayed like we saw at the other Costco near Walker. If I had seen one I liked, I might have tried to order one. Perhaps the salesman would have told me I didn't look like I really needed one yet, come back next year. I don't know how they stay in business with that attitude.

We hope to shop again at Costco in 18 weeks when we run out of chicken.

  1. I love the Costco canned chicken, too! (I eat more than one can a week.) I also like their individually wrapped frozen chicken breasts that are so easy to defrost. We also like their t-shirts and socks, and some of Nick's favorite shirts and sweaters are from Costco.

    Love,
    Linda

  2. From time to time you get "coupons" from Costco and save even more money on paper towels, soap and staples like that. If you become an "executive member" for $100 you will get 3% back on your gasoline purchases. We spend lots of money there so that we will get money back. D

  3. Welcome to the club...Our store is 6 miles away. I get in once a week most of the time and buy pears, and other produce. H and I just got gasoline and went in to brouse on the free samples--a favorite lunch out. Happy hunting. Caskets are only "ends' and tucked to the side of the exit. You are not ready for that and that is an order! Love R and H

  4. As we were checking out, the lady ahead of us looked at our cran-raspberry juice and said her father drank that kind and he celebrated his 100th birthday. So I guess it might be premature to get a casket. Thanks R & H!
